Miss M referred herself to Working Denbighshire as she was having a hard time finding work after being made redundant, after a conversation over the phone we identified her suitability for the Communities for Work Plus project.
After a few meetings with her C4W+ mentor, Miss M identified that she would really like to obtain a fork lift truck license. As Miss M had a strong operative work background, Communities for Work Plus agreed to provide some financial assistance as it was felt that it would add a further area of expertise to her CV. Miss M completed and passed the training with no problem and started her job search journey.
Miss M described herself as being quite independent and felt that she didn’t need help with applying for jobs but wasn’t getting any interviews, so I called her in for an appointment and had a discussion on the way she applies for jobs. It transpired that she was only using one job site to look for work, and she had not fully saved her CV and failed to tailor it for each individual position, so there was a lot of information missing when she applies for jobs.
We then arranged for Miss M to spend a session with the Working Denbighshire Employment Engagement Officer to complete some work on interview skills and get some practice in.
A couple of weeks later, through an exclusive Working Denbighshire opportunity, Miss M was offered work experience with a builders merchant (following a very successful interview) which she was very much looking forward to. There was a great opportunity for this to demonstrate the skills that she had built up through training and previous experience in the hope it lead to employment. Unfortunately, Miss M wasn’t offered a paid position, but found full time employment instead in transport and was able to provide an excellent reference to her new employer.
